How do we remove CO₂ from the atmosphere?
Plants take in CO₂ from the air during their growth and store it in their Biomass. The bound CO2 end up as unused residual wood in the pyrolysis plant of Bioenergy Frauenfeld, a subsidiary of Energy 360°. In doing so, not only renewable electricity and heat, but also Plant charcoal, in which the Carbon is bound in a stable form is.
The CO2 is permanently stored by mixing plant charcoal into soil substrate, for example.
With the partnership with Energy 360° we ensure that we the CO₂ not only compensate, but also it effectively and permanently remove from the Atmosphäre.
What is biochar?
Plant charcoal is a natural carbon, which is obtained from plant raw materials. In the facility of Bioenergy Frauenfeld it is obtained through the pyrolysis process. In this process the biomass is under high temperature and without oxygen heated. The resulting Carbon (C) remains bound in a stable form and stores the previously absorbed CO₂ permanently.
How much CO2 does plant charcoal store?
The decisive factor is the CO₂-storage ratio: 100 kg Biochar permanently stores 280 kg CO₂. This process prevents the captured CO₂ from returning to the atmosphäre and thus actively contributes to reducing the climate burden.
