The SRF reports currently of a massive increase of online Identitätsdiebstahls in Switzerland: From 478 Fällen in 2023 to über 8’100 Fälle in the last year. Betrüger misuse stolen IDs, to conclude Verträge in someone else's name.
Exactly for this reason we at Sponti-Car conduct a secure identity check through. We understand that some customers find this step cumbersome or even something „quirky“ . Nevertheless we stand by it – out of responsibility towards all users.
This is how our ID check works with Stripe
Each new customer must verify the account once:
- You photograph your driver's license.
- You take a Live-Selfie directly in the app.
- Stripe checks in real time the selfie, the photo on the ID, and the ID itself.
This is a biometric live check (no simple image upload). The technology compares facial features and checks for forgeries. It is one of the most secure processes currently available.

For everyone who does not want to use Stripe: The analog alternative
You don't want to do a digital check? No problem.
We offer a completely analog variant: You let your ID be personally verified at a post office. The post office stamps the proof and you send it to us by mail. Afterwards your account is also unlocked – completely without Stripe.
Why we do this
We want to offer a safe car-sharing system for everyone. A lax check would make it too easy for fraudsters. The strong rise in identity thefts unfortunately shows: such measures are unfortunately necessary today.
Nevertheless, we take your concerns seriously. Therefore, in addition to the fast digital route, we also offer the analog solution and are personally available for questions.
