Climate-positive on the road – Sponti-Car compensates CO₂ with real climate coal
Many talk about sustainability – Sponti-Car goes further: Since 2025 the company climate‑positive. This means: We not only cause fewer emissions, but actively remove CO₂ from the Atmosphäre. In collaboration with Energie 360° we rely on an innovative process for permanent CO₂-storage in the form of biochar – locally produced, scientifically certified, long‑term effective.
Why conventional CO₂ compensation is not enough
Certificates, reforestation, promises. Many offset projects are well-intentioned, but only bind CO₂ temporarily. If a forest is cut down or burns, the compensation is gone. Sponti-Car relies on genuine removal: Our CO₂ is converted and stably stored – over centuries.
The process: CO₂ conversion with Energy 360°
Together with Energy 360° we use a pyrolysis plant in Frauenfeld. This is how it works:
Biogenic residues like wood chips are collected
In the pyrolysis they are converted into plant charcoal without oxygen
Additionally, renewable energy (heat & power)
The biochar is introduced into agriculturally used soils
The CO₂ remains there bound for centuries – certified according to EBC standard
👉 One ton of plant charcoal stores approx. 3 tons CO₂ permanently. The plant produces annually around 3,500 tons of plant charcoal, which corresponds over 10,000 tons of bound CO₂.

For Sponti-Car, climate positivity is not a gag nor a greenwashing showcase. It is an expression of our attitude: If we cause emissions, we also take responsibility for them. We did not want a sticker „climate neutral“, bought with compensation certificates from some global fund. We wanted a real, verifiable impact on the climate, measurable in tonnes – and visible in a bottle of plant charcoal.
