The history of Kirchberg dates back to the year 1222, when it was first mentioned. Initially agriculture dominated, but later industrialisation brought new businesses to the municipality. Today, trade and industry are strongly rooted here, and the location near the town of Wil makes Kirchberg attractive for commuters.
The Heiligkreuz Church, also called St. Peter and Paul Church, shapes the cultural life. Already mentioned in documents in the year 1215, it is an architectural gem and a venue for cultural events. Thus the church attracts visitors from the region and beyond.
Kirchberg carries the award „Energiestadt“, as it commits to sustainable development. The municipality invests heavily in renewable energies and promotes environmentally friendly projects. Thus Kirchberg becomes a role model for ecological municipal development.
For nature lovers, Kirchberg offers many hiking and cycling trails that run through the hilly landscape of Toggenburg. Especially the tours to Chogelhuet and to Mosnang provide wonderful views and invite breaks. The municipality also has a lively club life that offers leisure activities for young and old. Thus Kirchberg combines tradition, nature and modern life.
